I am delighted to welcome Harold Stein who has agreed to help me with the job of FilkArchive administrator. Harold has been a supporter of the site for a long time and is also a contributor - he posts as hms42. I'm very grateful for his assistance.

I apologise for the FilkArchive outage last week - a combination of a power cut that took out the UPS and a failed restart at exactly the time I was away for a week. As far as I remember, its the first outage of that length we've ever had on the archive, but I'll make sure that the problem is remedied and doesn't happen again.

I know I could solve the problem by putting the site into a proper hosted environment, but that involves paying for it, which gets us into the nasty "do we use advertising on the site" game I've been successfully avoiding for the last few years. However, I fully appreciate that we can't allow the site to be out for this long again, so we may need to re-open that discussion.

Thanks to Phillip Mills for pointing out that the FilkArchive radio was down - looks as if an upgrade I ran on the box managed to confuse the radio software I use. Should be up again now - sorry about the outage.

My usual article to pick up which of the Pegasus Awards songs can be heard on this site. Although of course clips for all songs and performers in the final ballot can be heard on the Pegasus site itself, some of the versions on here are either live recordings or covers by other performers, and can give another point of view before you vote (which of course, if you're a member of the filk community, you are going to...aren't you?)! I have listed all nominations this year, even those not on the site, just so that no-one thinks I'm trying to influence voting or anything stupid.

Although the Pegasus Awards site already has samples of each song, I always publish links to those that are also on FilkArchive - in many cases, these include different versions to those on the Pegasus site and give people a chance to listen to a different version of a song. For whatever reason, there's not actually that many links this year - I need to encourage a few more people to get songs on the site!
